Shudi successfully defends his PhD on scalable perovskite photovoltaics
Shudi joined i-MEET as a scientist and now completes his journey as an engineer – Dr.-Ing.!
Shudi’s PhD research focused on the scalable fabrication and control of crystallization kinetics in perovskite films for fully printed solar cells and modules. His work combined fundamental studies of perovskite phase evolution with the development of scalable coating strategies for large-area photovoltaic devices.
During his PhD, he developed in-situ optical characterization techniques to monitor perovskite nucleation and crystal growth in real time, providing deeper insight into film formation during scalable coating processes. He also investigated the phase-stabilization behavior of gas-quenching-assisted blade-coated FAPbI₃ perovskites under ambient conditions, offering practical pathways toward robust large-area processing.
In addition, his research revealed the underlying mechanisms governing buried void formation in thick perovskite layers and introduced effective mitigation strategies to suppress defect generation – a truly remarkable achievement.
His contributions have significantly supported the development of efficient and stable fully printed carbon-electrode perovskite solar cells and modules.
